We're so excited...

...to be starting another year of forest school!

Mrs Kentish (Mrs K) leads forest school together with two assistants, Mrs Benham and Mrs Beqiraj (Mrs B).

We had so much fun last year learning, developing skills and connecting with nature.  One of the things that made the biggest difference was probably having the right clothes for the weather, especially when it was cold.

This is from a gorgeous, frosty day last year, see how wrapped up we are!  Mrs K has unzipped her coat because she gets very warm setting up in the morning.

This is from the FAQ and is a nice reminder of what to wear at forest school.

For cool/cold weather:

  • Thermal layer (t-shirt and leggings)
  • Long-sleeved top
  • Warm trousers/bottoms
  • Jumper or fleece
  • Warm coat
  • Gloves (waterproof if at all possible)
  • Hat
  • Sturdy waterproof boots or wellingtons (with extra layers of warm socks)

For warm weather:

  • Light long-sleeved top
  • Light long trousers/bottoms
  • Sturdy shoes with good grip (no sandals)
  • Sun-hat

School provides waterproof trousers for all children and coats for reception children (these are fabulously waterproof). These go over regular clothes but aren't designed for warmth. Always pack a change of clothes (school uniform) and school shoes (because the boots or wellies they wear in forest school will most likely be very muddy) in a separate bag.
