We Won't Let The Wind Stop Us!
T.his week was a wonderful example of how adaptable and creative children can be! 🌬️ With gusty winds over 40 making it unsafe to use our forest school area, we embraced the challenge and found new ways to have fun and learn together
The children had their first bow saw tool talk, and half the class got the chance to try sawing this week, with the other half set to have a go next week. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow as they learned this new skill.
We also worked on teamwork with a lively parachute game called 'popcorn' and had so much fun running in the wind while learning to play 'stuck in the mud.'
During choosing time, there was no shortage of exciting activities. The children made bird feeders, decorated wands, created paper bag kites, uncovered dinosaur skulls like real palaeontologists, made giant bubbles, ran with ribbon sticks, tackled a mini obstacle course, and enjoyed some quiet threading.
Many children loved playing with their creations afterward, adding even more joy to the day.
Everyone worked hard to stay safe by remembering to avoid the tool area unless invited. It was a fantastic session despite the windy weather, and we’re looking forward to being back in the forest school area next week! 🌟
