What a wonderful morning we had at Forest School under the sunny skies!

We kicked off our session with some energetic movement games and an obstacle course, where the children showed off their balance, climbing, and teamwork skills.
After warming up, we set off in small groups to explore the woods, identifying different trees and collecting a variety of leaves. It was fantastic to hear the children’s thoughtful observations and see their confidence grow as they learned to recognise more tree species around our site.
During choosing time, everyone had the chance to plant a seed with Miss Bevan, and the swing under our big Lime tree was a popular spot for laughter and relaxation. Some children challenged themselves further on the obstacle course, while others enjoyed painting beneath the leafy canopy. The mud kitchen was buzzing with activity as children searched for mini beasts and experimented with mud recipes.
Creative hands made wiggly worms with beads and beautiful peg butterflies, while water play inspired lots of problem-solving and cooperation. Our wildflower patch is thriving, attracting cabbage-white butterflies, bees and lots of pollinators. Some children tried cyanotype printing with Mrs K. We were so engaged and enjoying our time outdoors that we forgot to take low of photos-next week we will make sure to have a photographer or two with ipads.
We finished the day with tidy teams working hard before a well-earned snack. Next week, we’ll continue these activities and go on a bug hunt-can’t wait for more adventures!
